Linguistic vs. Non-Linguistic Common Ground

This project contributes to the cognitive-psychological study of common ground by exploring the architecture of CG and the interactive alignment processes that proceed in conversation partners. It investigates (a) whether linguistic experiences play a particularly significant role in CG, (b) whether CG information is stored in separate areas for each conversation partner, and (c) the role of specific synchronization markers for ongoing alignment processes. By integrating different approaches and methods from cognitive psychology, the project seeks to develop a comprehensive view of CG.
