Project Investigator

In its third funding phase, project C 06 is investigating how people are experiencing and have experienced the COVID-19 pandemic.
A research project taking place in Germany focuses on the experiences of people in crisis situations from a medical-anthropological perspective in the context of the pandemic, which in many cases has exacerbated pre-existing problems. These issues include, for instance, mental health conditions as well as existential challenges such as loneliness, family conflicts, financial worries, unemployment, and homelessness. The researcher of this project works together with health and social care facilities such as community centres, support groups and counselling services, and their participants. The central research question is: How did/do people with psychosocial challenges experience the COVID-19 pandemic and what are the implications?
The aim of this research is to investigate how people in existential crisis situations and people with mental health conditions understand health and well-being. It also explores which coping strategies they develop and which support services they consider and/or seek out.
