Textbooks are often seen as old-fashioned, apps as innovative. But despite digital support, schoolchildren in Germany are reading worse than ever before. Educational psychologists are now calling for more paper. LEAD Co-Director Ulrike Cress provides scientific expertise: "What is needed are digital applications that are developed on the basis of research findings and tested for their effectiveness before being used."
