IWM Research Professorship in Digital Education (m/f/d, W3)

The Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) and the University of Tübingen (Faculty of Science, Department of Psychology) are seeking to jointly fill an

IWM Research Professorship in Digital Education (m/f/d, W3)

starting as soon as possible.

The research professorship is part of the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) and involves a significantly reduced teaching load. The IWM’s research focuses on knowledge acquisition, knowledge exchange and cooperation with digital media. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and manage a lab dedicated to the development and analysis of innovative digitally supported teaching and learning environments. The professorship is closely involved in developing the “IWM Future Innovation Space” and heads the “Digital Teaching Lab” operated by IWM and the University of Tübingen. A keen interest in technical developments (e.g., AI, eye-tracking, multimodal learning environments) is desired. Collaboration with practitioners and the institutional structures of teacher education (co-construction) is of particular importance.

As a member of the Leibniz Association, the IWM is committed to international standards of excellence in science and offers outstanding conditions for academic work. A distinguished, internationally visible profile in empirical research on teaching and learning, substantial acquisition of competitive third-party funding, and engagement in research outreach and knowledge transfer activities are expected. A willingness to engage in cooperative interdisciplinary research with other IWM labs and to participate in the management and further development of the IWM is required. A variety of synergies arise out of IWM’s close relationships with other stakeholders in Tübingen’s education research, such as the graduate school and expert network LEAD, the Hector Research Institute of Education Sciences and Psychology, school psychology, and Tübingen’s research focus on AI.

Required qualifications include a PhD or equivalent degree as well as postdoctoral qualifications and teaching experience equivalent to the requirements of a full professorship.
