Literatur in the digital age: Tübingen Poetik-Dozentur 2015

Guest authors Kathrin Passig and Clemens J. Setz in Tübingen 23-27 November

Kathrin Passig and Clemens J. Setz are contemporary writers who experiment with the endless possibilities of the internet - and consider how literature is changing in the digital age.

"We want to build a bridge to new forms of literary production," says Professor Dorothee Kimmich, director of the Poetik Dozentur. The two writers are representatives of a generation of authors seeking to reach a public little interested in traditional literary forms, yet their "literary substance is not lost, because they combine digital opportunities with a high degree of creativity," according to Kimmich.

Clemens J. Setz, born 1982, lives and works in Graz, Austria. He debuted in 2007 with the novel Söhne und Planeten. His second novel, Die Frequenzen, was shortlisted for the German Book Prize. He won the 2011 Leipzig Book Fair Prize with the short story collection Die Liebe zur Zeit des Mahlstädter Kindes. In 2012 he was again shortlisted for the German Book Prize for the novel Indigo, and in 2015 he received the Wilhelm Raabe Literature Prize for Die Stunde zwischen Frau und Gitarre.

Kathrin Passig, born 1970 in Deggendorf, Bavaria. She is editor and programmer of the blog "Riesenmaschine" which received the Grimme Online Award 2006. The same year, her short story “Sie befinden sich hier” (“You are here”) won her the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize. One of her most successful books is "Lexikon des Unwissens – Worauf es bisher keine Antwort gibt" ("Encyclopedia of Ignorance – Everything we don't know so far") published by Rowohlt in 2007.
