Tübingen University joins effort to help researchers in danger

The University becomes a member of “Scholars at Risk” Germany section

The University of Tübingen has joined the Scholars at Risk (SAR) network, which supports researchers around the world who are restricted or persecuted because of their work. Tübingen is the eighth member of the network’s Germany section.

Tübingen researchers can now notify SAR via the University’s Refugee Coordination office of colleagues abroad who need support. Once notified, Scholars at Risk can help identify the level of risk and arrange for the endangered researcher to relocate. In Tübingen, the Welcome Center can assist with visa and work permit formalities, as well as with finding a place to live. The University is also planning an assistance program to help such international researchers continue their careers - for instance with advice on grant applications, further training, or with positions at partner universities or institutes.
