Information on the Erasmus+ program

What is Erasmus+?

The Erasmus+ program serves to promote and cooperate in the field of general education and higher education. It offers the possibility of a stay abroad at a European partner university of an Erasmus+ program country, i.e.

  • in one of the 27 member states of the European Union: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden
  • in the following countries outside the EU:
Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, Turkey
  • in Great Britain (as a partner country outside the EU, provided that corresponding Erasmus follow-up agreements have been concluded with the British partner universities)

Erasmus+ exchange relationships are based on subject-specific agreements between departments or institutes of the University of Tübingen and departments of partner universities. Individual applications outside these agreements are not possible.

Currenlty special conditions apply to stays in Switzerland; please inquire at the Erasmus office ().

What advantages does Erasmus+ offer?

  • You are exempt from paying tuition fees at your host university
  • There are additional financial support options for students with fewer opportunities
  • You will receive a financial grant adapted to your destination country
  • The credits earned abroad can be recognized after consultation with your department
  • You can participate in an intercultural preparation program at UT
  • You have access to the OLS language preparation program and can improve your language skills free of charge before your stay.
  • The Erasmus+ team and your department at UT, as well as your host university, will support you before, during and after your stay.

What can be expected from this generation of Erasmus+ programs?

The new Erasmus+ program generation (2021-2027) began on 1.9.2021. The University of Tübingen possesses the 'European Charter for Higher Education (ECHE)', which entitles it to participate in the program and obliges it to implement the declaration on higher education policy.

Detailed information on the program can be found in the current Erasmus+ Guide and on the website of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as the Erasmus National Agency in Germany.
