Global Awareness Education in CIVIS

The CIVIS Alliance of eleven European universities provides a productive environment for achieving the goals of Global Awareness. Within this framework, students can develop their intercultural competencies and problem-solving skills, as well as practice international collaborations on an equal footing. Global Awareness Education participates in various CIVIS projects.

CIVIS Micro-Program Global Awareness

The CIVIS Micro-Program Global Awareness is an additional offer of 15 ECTS for Bachelor students of all subjects and degrees, which can be credited to students in Tübingen in the area of key qualifications.

In contrast to the Global Awareness Certificate, the Micro-Program is not only run through Global Awareness Education of the University of Tübingen, it is an international program in which Global Awareness Education cooperates with the University of Madrid and the University of Bucharest. You therefore have to register at the University of Tübingen, or one of the CIVIS universities, as well as at the micro-programme itself.

CIVIS BIP Global Migration on the Ground

Global Awareness Education is organising a format of BIP (Blended Intensive Program) under CIVIS that is entitled Global Migration on the Ground. The course will take place online from 16. February 2024 to 15. March 2024, before five days in attendance will take place in Tübingen from 8. to 12. April 2024. There will be 30 places for students from Tübingen and 30 places for students from the other CIVIS Universities, 15 of whom will receive Erasmus funding for participation.

This course is aimed at BA and MA students from all disciplines who are interested in an international experience in Tübingen and want to experience transdisciplinarity not only in terms of academic subjects, but also with society and beyond the walls of the university. In addition to stimulating critical thinking, combining theory and practice and thinking about opportunities and possibilities, the seminar is a great opportunity for one's own commitment and to get to know future professions.

For this seminar, 3 ECTS can be credited in the area of key qualification, for the certificate Global Awareness or in the micro-programme Global Awareness.

CIVIS BIP Democratic Memories in Global Perspective

Global Awareness Education is organising a course in the format of BIP (blended intensive program) as part of CIVIS which is entitled Democratic Memories in Global Perspective.

This course discusses the topic of democratic collective memory from an international and transdisciplinary perspective, including psychology, law, political science, history, sociology, pedagogy, archaeology and cultural studies. By promoting cooperation within the CIVIS network, students are made aware that global democratic problems do not have easy solutions and require collaboration between different academic specializations and different stakeholders. Furthermore, the contact with researchers and students from different countries promotes the development of critical thinking and opens up new opportunities for international agreements as well as European and global solutions.
