This program area deals with the great challenges facing planet Earth. These include climate change, food security, conservation of natural resources, alternatives to fossil fuels, protection of the oceans, fisheries, agriculture and forestry, and the bio-economy

- Water, land and resilience to Climate Change
- Transition to a bio-circular economy
- Support of functional ecosystems as well as sustainable food systems and a healthy lifestyle
- Innovations for new products, value chains and markets for water and land
- Developing smart, connected and value-added chains in rural and coastal areas.
