START Course

Exchange and Erasmus students beginning their studies in Tübingen in the winter term 2025/2026 (fall course) or summer semester 2025 (spring course).

A2 - B2

• Prerequisite for attending: Completed A2 level: A2.1+A2.2 finished (approx. 200 hours of German) with language certificate
• Please send as a language certificate by email after your registration.
• There will be a language placement test on the first day of the course. The final decision about course admission will be based on the results of the placement test.

No classes on A1 and C1 level
 

In the morning:

• 4 hours intensive German lessons in 4 classes: grammar and vocabulary, university and every day culture, regional and cultural studies, conversation, colloquialisms
• in addition: tutorials for regional studies & orientation at the university and the city of Tübingen
• one full-day excursion

Tentative Schedule

• maximum 4 ECTS credit points 

For 4 ECTS points you have to:

•     attend the course regularly (maximum one day of absence)
•     write a final test

€ 150 for German classes & tutorials

The course fee does not cover your accommodation!
If you intend to study in Tübingen in the winter term or the summer term, you can rent a room in a student hall of residence as early as March or September. With your Erasmus or exchange application documents you will be provided with a form from the student union (Studierendenwerk Tübingen). Please complete the application forms for accommodation.

As it is difficult to find accommodation in Tübingen, please make sure you apply as early as possible!

Please ensure that you have insurance coverage in your home country for your stay in Tübingen. The course fee does not include insurance.

As places are taken quickly, please submit your registration as soon as possible.

In case of cancellation 2 weeks before the beginning of the course, we will keep a handling fee of € 50.
