The foundation of the “Narrenzunft Rottenburg am Neckar” dates back to 1925, marking the beginning of the guild's role in organizing the Rottenburg Fasnet, a tradition with roots in the Middle Ages. In the 19th century, various local clubs, especially the gymnastics club, helped keep the Fasnet alive. In 1929, the guild became a member of the Swabian-Alemannic Fools’ Guilds Association (VSAN), the oldest association of its kind.

Today, the Fool’s Guild is an important institution in our beautiful city of Rottenburg and plays a key role in maintaining a vibrant community life throughout the year with its various groups and events.

“Fasnet en Raoteburg, des isch de scheegst uff dr Welt” - that's what it's called in a fasnet song, which the children are already singing along. The annual event draws thousands of spectators and participants who celebrate in a joyful and exuberant manner.

In 2025, the guild will host a special fools’ gathering from January 31 to February 2. The meeting will bring together 12 guilds from the “Fasnetslandschaft Neckar-Alb” region, as well as many other guilds from cities that were once part of Western Austria, including Rottenburg itself.

At 1:00 p.m., the big parade will take place, featuring guilds from VSAN and beyond, and will conclude with a festive celebration at the Festhalle.

This event is offered by one of our volunteers (Alfred Biesinger). He will meet you at the meeting point.

Please be aware that you will need to arrange your own transportation to and from Rottenburg. A possible train connection from Tübingen main station leaves at 11.29 a.m. (RB 74). This train will arrive in Rottenburg a.N. at 11.38 a.m.. Train fares are to be covered by each participant.

PARTICIPATION FEE:
The participation fee is 5 Euros per person (to be paid in cash onsite in Rottenburg).
