Bebenhausen guided tour of the castle and monastery

Founded in the 12th century, Bebenhausen monastery is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved Cistercian abbeys in southern Germany. From 1868 on, parts of
the monastery were converted into a royal hunting palace for Württemberg’s dukes and kings. Situated idyllicly in nature park “Schönbuch”, the site were favorite hunting grounds for the monarchs of Württemberg.

This tour will cover both, monastery and castle.

After the end of World War II, Bebenhausen was the meeting place of the State Assembly of Württemberg-Hohenzollern. Its task was to create a constitution for the state between 1946 and 1947. Until 1952, the State Parliament of Württemberg-Hohenzollern met in the winter refectory.
