Shanghai Ranking 2022: Top place for sports science of the University of Tübingen

In the Shanghai Ranking "2022 Global Ranking Sport Science Schools and Departments", the Institute of Sport Science at the University of Tübingen again placed among the top 100, out of over 460 institutions evaluated worldwide. Tübingen is even ranked third in Germany, behind the German Sport University Cologne and the Technical University of Munich.

The publication-based special ranking has been carried out since 2016. Five indicators are evaluated:

Research output: 

• Total papers [20%],
• Citations to papers [20%]

Research quality: 

• (c) Cites per paper [30%], 
• (d) Top25-papers [20%]

International Cooperation: 

• (e) Papers with international co-authorship [10%].

At the indicator with the highest weighting "cites per paper", Tübingen even achieves the highest value nationwide. Adding up the values for all five indicators, the Institute of Sport Science places third in Germany with an overall score of 32.6.
