In her article ‘A lot helps a lot? How homework supports learning success’, Hannah Deininger, member of the Hector Research Institute for Education Sciences and Psychology, and the LEAD Graduate School & Research Network, sheds light on the complex relationship between homework and learning success. Using behavioural data from pupils, she shows that it is not the length of time spent on homework, but the quality and conscientiousness with which it is completed that is decisive for learning success. These findings challenge the common assumption that spending more time automatically leads to better results.
