Studio Literature and Theater Certificate

Students can choose from a wide range of courses on prose, poetry and scenic writing at the "Studio Literatur und Theater" (SLT). Lecturers are regularly authors, theater-, publishing- and radio- professionals. The Studio Literature and Theatre certificate verifies the acquisition of basic knowledge in the area of literary writing and should enable students to independently organize and carry out their own literary projects. A total of 18 credit points must be earned in order to acquire the Studio Literature and Theater certificate.

1. Basic courses

In the basic area, 4 certificates must be obtained. Achievements in this sense include the writing and analysis of literary or journalistic texts or participation in a production or media realization.

2. Certificate project

Parallel to obtaining a certificate, students can register their certificate project in form of an independent literary thesis. An exposé and a work sample of 5 standard pages are required for registration. With the final thesis, students realize their own literary novel, narrative, poetry, drama or essay project and, if possible, bring it to publication maturity. The subject of the work is usually agreed with the head of the studio, who also supervises the work. The completed thesis must comprise at least 30 standard pages and reflect intensive artistic and critical reflection.

3. Presentation

At the end of the course, the final artistic work is presented and discussed in a colloquium in presence of an external assessor.
