The Ethics of Genome Editing Research Unit (EGE), University of Tübingen's online seminar series 'CRISPR & Beyond: A Decade in Review' 2023/2024 is delighted to announce the October seminar 'on the idea of enhancement'. While the Zoom seminars are about genome editing (and related technologies) – particularly the challenges for medical ethics, society, regulation - they are also about these normative discussions themselves – have they changed, or not, in the last decade, compared to before; have they become more constructive, inclusive, or not; and what directions do you think both genome editing/CRISPR and these discussions themselves need to take in the next decade.

In the October seminar, our expert panel will share their insights on the idea of ‘enhancement’ and if, or how, has the notion of ‘genetic’ enhancement evolved in recent years? These questions hold significant relevance, particularly in light of the WHO Human Genome Editing Report of 2021, which identified enhancement as one of the key challenges to be addressed. To explore these questions, we are delighted to be joined by: Professor Nicholas Agar (University of Waikato) - Professor Vojin Rakić (Center for the Study of Bioethics) - Professor Yawen Zou (ShanghaiTech University).

It will be on Zoom and the link will be shared shortly before the seminar to registered participants. If you would like to attend/participate, please contact Dr Oliver Feeney on: oliver.feeneyspam prevention@uni-tuebingen.de
