Antigypsyism
What is Antigypsyism (German: Antiziganismus)?
“Antigypsyism is a specific form of racism directed against Roma, Sinti, Travellers, Yenish people, and others who are stigmatized as “Gypsies” by majority society”. Further information can be found in this foundational paper on antigypsyism, from which the above quote is taken: Grundlagenpapier zu Antiziganismus.
We also recommend the explainer videos provided by the Reporting and Information Office on Antigypsyism in Rheinland-Pfalz. Here is a link to their YouTube channel.
Counseling
If you have experienced or witnessed cases of antigypsyism at the University of Tübingen, the Diversity Office is available to offer support and advice. You also have the option to report antigypsyist incidents to the Federal Reporting and Information Office on Antigypsyism. In addition to the federal reporting office, there are also regional offices at the state level. Antigypsyist incidents in Baden-Württemberg can be reported to the State Association of German Sinti and Roma Baden-Württemberg – Sinti Powerclub e.V. You can find their contact form in German here. By submitting a report, you help ensure that antigypsyist incidents in Germany are recorded, documented, and analyzed.
