Reaching for the stars ‒ How religion boosted astronomy in the pre-modern age
Junior researchers launch exhibition at Tübingen Uni Museum – The search for God alongside fascination with the heavens
A new exhibition at Tübingen University Museum shows how astrology and astronomy went hand-in-hand in medieval times. The show, conceived by PhD students in the research training group “religious knowledge in pre-modern Europe,” uses documents such as works by Sir Isaac Newton (1642–1727) and Johannes Kepler (1571–1630) to demonstrate that Christian teachings contributed to the discovery of new astronomical knowledge.
