F.A.I.R. data management using Github (EN)

Monday, 23th February 2026, 13:00-13:45, online

Workshop

Availability and management of data during research projects and for subsequent publication is key to successful academic work. Therefore, an early implementation of respective workflows and tools helps to reduce workload and to enhance productivity.

Within this workshop, the widely used file versioning tool git is introduced, which allows for a fine grained tracking of changes in files and projects. To simplify its usage and to enable various features for project management and beyond, cloud services for git are available. A major such platform is Github.

The main focus of this workshop is to discuss how the usage of git with a cloud service like Github can improve your scientific workflows and help to maintain, share and publish research data and material in line with the F.A.I.R. principles for scientific data management.

Speaker: Dr. Martin Raden (Dr. Eberle-Center für digitale Kompetenzen)
