Erasmus+ internship

The University of Tübingen is a consortium partner of KOOR - Erasmus Services BW, an Erasmus consortium founded in 1975, which acts as the central institution of the state of Baden-Württemberg, based at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, as a coordination office for practical semesters for currently 41 universities.

The primary aim is to give as many students and graduates in Baden-Württemberg as possible the opportunity to gain work experience in another European country and to provide extensive support to make it easier for them to spend a semester abroad.

Applications for an Erasmus+ grant for internships must therefore be submitted directly via KOOR.

Find an internship position abroad

While searching and deciding for an internship abroad, it is helpful to read experience reports of students who have already completed an internship in the target country and ideally at the desired internship location.

Experience reports and country information can be found on studieren-weltweit, an overview page of the DAAD. You can find further reports from students via KOOR (registration on KOOR Jobteaser platform required). Offers for internships abroad are also posted there directly by companies.

You can also find further offers for internships abroad on the University of Tübingen's internship portal (registration via your ZDV login) or on erasmusintern.org ,an offer of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN). You can find more KOOR website recommendations to help you to find an internship on the Inspiration and Preparation subpage.

You may also find experience reports or additional internship offers directly in your department. Ask your department (e.g. the Erasmus+ subject coordinator, the internship office, the faculty course advisors or the student council) if there is any further information available.

Further information on internships and practical experience as well as alternative funding options can be found on the University of Tübingen's career guidance pages.

Application deadline

You can apply for an Erasmus+ grant in the online application portal “Placement Online” as soon as you have received an internship confirmation, provided that the start date of your internship matches the current application phase and funds are still available.

Your application documents for the Erasmus+ scholarship must be submitted in full two weeks before the start of your internship. For internships at schools and university institutions, there is a shorter deadline of one week for submitting the complete Erasmus+ application documents. Details on the application process can be found on the KOOR - Erasmus Services BW website.

To have enough time to process the documents and collect all the necessary signatures, it is recommended to register at least 6 to 8 weeks before the start of the internship.

Funding rates

Information on the scholarship funding rates and additional funding options for the current application phase can be found on the KOOR - Erasmus Services BW homepage.

Please note: Even if your internship stay is financially remunerated, it is possible to receive funding for your Erasmus+ internship stay, provided that the remuneration does not exceed the current remuneration limit (Internships with a start date as of 01.08.2025: 1500€ per month).

Funding quota

Students can receive Erasmus+ funding for a total of up to 36 months for their studies and/or internship. Repeated funding within a study cycle is possible, provided that the funding quota is not exceeded:

  • up to twelve months (=360 days) in Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral degree programs
  • up to 24 months (=720 days) for single-cycle courses (e.g. medicine, state examination)

During the application process, you must provide full details of your previous Erasmus+ funding in the same study cycle; your details will be checked by the International Office. In addition to Erasmus+ semester stays and Erasmus+ internships already completed, Erasmus+-funded short-term mobilities (e.g. CIVIS BIPs) must also be indicated.

In Placement-Online you can currently enter a maximum of 2 previous grants. Please inform us at the International Office of any additional previous funding by e-mail (including BIP title) when you submit the application form. We will then add this information to your application form before we sign the form.

Virtual periods of mobility, e.g. when participating in BIPs, are not relevant for the funding quota. Only the days of the physical stay are relevant - for CIVIS BIPs this is usually 5 days. If additional travel days have been funded, these are also not relevant for the funding quota. Please do not enter virtual periods or additionally funded travel days in order to avoid subsequent corrections of your statements.

Insurance cover for your internship abroad

The University of Tübingen does not provide insurance cover for your internship stay nor does your Erasmus+ scholarship include insurance cover for your stay abroad. You are responsible for ensuring that you have sufficient insurance cover for the duration of your stay abroad. Please note that it is mandatory for Erasmus interns to be insured against liability claims they cause at work and for accidents they suffer at work.

If you do not have insurance cover through your internship position, please check to what extent your own insurance includes insurance cover or extend it for the duration of your internship. It is also possible that your student accident insurance may (partially) cover you during your stay abroad. For more information, please contact the Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim.

Erasmus+ funded students have the opportunity to be included in the DAAD group insurance, which offers comprehensive insurance cover (health, accident and personal liability insurance). Detailed information can be found on the DAAD website.
