Long Night Against Procrastination

Join us for the annual Long Night Against Procrastination! Organized by the Writing Center, this event offers you the perfect opportunity to focus on your writing projects in a supportive environment, stay focused and make progress. From 6 p.m. on March 12 to 6 a.m. on March 13, the University Library will be open for you to work on your term papers, theses, lab reports, presentations, essays, or any other writing tasks. Need some motivation and a space to write alongside others? Just drop by and turn the night into text!

Here's whats waiting for you

During the Long Night Against Procrastination, writing tutors from the Writing Center, along with mentors, advisors, and tutors from various faculties and the university library, will be there to support you – be it with writing support, technical guidance, or just a motivational boost.

Recharge and Refocus Program

Welcome & Kickoff at 6:00 p.m.

We’ll kick off the night together at 6:00 PM with a welcome from the Diversity-Oriented Writing Center and the University Library.

Movement break

Time: starting at 7:30 p.m., every hour until at least midnight

Instructor: Tim Balke (Studentisches Gesundheitsmanagement BeTaBalance)

Take an active break and recharge your energy! This quick 15-minute movement session will help you stay fresh and focused.

Balance Board Challenge

Time: Starting at 7:oo p.m. and going constantly until midnight.

Balance Board Challenge: Can you stay on the Balance Board? Test your skills on the Balance Board and compare yourself with other students.

Stretch and Relax

Time: From 8:00 p.m., every half hour until at least midnight

Instructor: Ina Zeltwanger (Studentisches Gesundheitsmanagement BeTaBalance)

Been writing for too long? Give your body a break from sitting! In a relaxing atmosphere, you’ll counteract muscle tension with mobility and stretching exercises. Excersise mats are provided. Each session lasts about 25 minutes.

Puzzle Table

Need a break? Join in on a collaborative puzzle challenge—can we complete it before sunrise? Find the puzzle table in the Circulation Center.

Book Table on Overcoming Procrastination

Zeit: Ab 18:30 Uhr

You made it to the Long Night Against Procrastination, but still don't feel focused enough? Throughout the event, the library's lending center will have a book table with guides and additional information materials on overcoming procrastination.

Recharge Your Body and Stay Energized

Keep up your stamina with a meal, a snack, or a hot drink. The cafeteria in the University Library will stay open until 11:30 p.m. on March 12. After that, vending machines will still be available for late-night cravings.

Family Room

Need a space where your child can stay close while you write? Then the Family Room in the University Library is the place to be. The room is open all night—just pick up the key at the circulation desk.

Breakfast at 6:00 a.m.

Made it through the night? Celebrate with fellow night owls with a free breakfast at 6:00 a.m. You’ve earned it!

Kreativität: Bedingungen - Prozesse - Techniken

Kreativität ist eine der menschlichsten Eigenschaften, aber oft schwer abzurufen, wenn man sie gerade dringend bräuchte – z. B. beim Finden und Lösen von Forschungsfragen für Prüfungs- oder Qualifikationsarbeiten. Wie kann ich günstige Bedingungen für kreatives Arbeiten schaffen? Wie funktionieren kreative Denkprozesse? Welche Techniken können dabei hilfreich sein, auch und gerade fürs Schreiben? Der Impuls versucht, auf diese Fragen ein paar Antworten zu geben.

Strukturiert und verständlich? Textabschnitte mit KI-Unterstützung überarbeiten

Moderation: Corinna Knöll und Tabea Harnischmacher (Diversitätsorientiertes Schreibzentrum)

Zeit: 19:45-20:15 und 23:30-00:00 Uhr

Bringe ich in meinem Text wirklich das rüber, was ich ausdrücken möchte? In diesem Impuls nutzen wir KI, um die Struktur des eigenen Textes sichtbar zu machen und gezielt Stellen zu finden, an denen die Verständlichkeit verbessert und der rote Faden klarer herausgearbeitet werden kann. Gemeinsam probieren wir eine Promptstrategie aus und sprechen über den Nutzen dieser Methode für die eigene Schreibpraxis. 

Bitte bringt einen eigenen Textabschnitt mit, an dem ihr gerade arbeitet – gerne auch eine erste Rohfassung. Der Text dient zum Ausprobieren der Methode und wird nicht präsentiert.

In jeweils 15 Minuten zeige ich Ihnen, wie Sie es Ihren Lesern so einfach wie möglich machen, die Ergebnisse Ihrer Arbeit zu erfassen und zu verstehen. Nach den Impulsen ist Zeit für individuelle Fragen zu den Themen. Zwischen den Themenblöcken, also von 21:00 bis 21:15 Uhr stehe ich für spontane Einzel-Kurzberatungen zur Verfügung.

Finde deinen Schreibtyp - Bist du eher Planer:in oder Versionenschreiber:in, oder doch eher Drauflosschreiber:in? In unserem Workshop kannst du nicht nur rausfinden, welcher "Schreibtyp" am ehesten deinem Schreibstil entspricht, sondern auch welche Vorteile und Möglichkeiten die verschiedenen "Schreibtypen" mit sich bringen.

Schreibspeeddating - keine Sorge, es handelt sich hierbei nicht um ein Datingformat! Stattdessen wollen wir euch die Möglichkeit geben, euch mit anderen über das Schreiben und euren Schreibprozess auszutauschen. Anhand von ausgewählten Fragen könnt ihr euch in schnellen Runden selbst reflektieren und neue Impulse von anderen erhalten.

Zeitmanagement im Schreibprozess - Wenn du jetzt noch vor Ort bist, bist du hoffentlich bereits gut vorangekommen. In diesem Impuls lernst du kurz vor Abschluss der Langen Nacht wirksame Methoden des Zeitmanagements, um auch im Alltag effizient zu schreiben.

Statistical analyses are an important component of the results of many term papers and theses. But which analyses are appropriate for my data and the hypothesis I am investigating? How do I correctly present the results of statistical analyses in writing or graphically? This consultation offers advice and assistance on precisely these issues.
