The Roman City Museum Sumelocenna (Römisches Stadtmuseum) in Rottenburg is a unique opportunity to explore the Roman past of the region, as it is built directly above the archaeological remains of the ancient town of Sumelocenna. The museum presents well-preserved structures such as bathhouses, streets, and an impressive 32-meter-long Roman latrine, alongside a rich collection of artefacts that illustrate everyday life, craftsmanship, and urban development in a Roman provincial settlement.
Through reconstructions, interactive displays, and original finds, visitors gain vivid insights into Roman engineering, hygiene, and social life nearly 2,000 years ago. The museum provides an engaging and accessible introduction to local history, making it an ideal destination for an enriching cultural excursion just a short distance from Tübingen.
