Training Programme

The training programme of our Research Training Group is guided by three principles: Intensive supervision (in form of interdisciplinary team mentoring) and constant evaluation are to ensure that (1) the dissertations will be completed successfully within three years; (2) international standards of excellence will be met; and (3) interdisciplinary research will be promoted. In order to reach these ends, the perspectives of the group as a whole will be combined with project-oriented training and specific skills. External and international advisers and exchange partners are integrated into the programme; they are supplemented by a board of practitioners who will conduct workshops reflecting specific issues of ambiguity in journalism, translation, comedy, etc. The training programme will undergo constant internal evaluation and readjustment. Furthermore, our training programme is committed to equal opportunity, and in particular to the goals of encouraging women to pursue scientific careers and of promoting young, talented researchers from non-academic backgrounds.

The training programme comprises three areas:

Study Programme

For every year of funding, activities for the entire RTG are planned that are project-oriented and (designed to) impart transdisciplinary qualifications. These include career-oriented qualifications and assistance for (the facilitation of) networking in the scientific community / for building academic networks. In this regard, our study programme is guided by the findings of (relevant) studies on doctoral training.
