Can I get a scholarship?
The Summer Course does not award its own scholarships. For the summer course 2025, you can apply for a DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst)scholarship. The deadline for a scholarhsip for the summer course 2025 is December 1st, 2024. You can find mor information on the DAAD website.
Are there any participation requirements?
Yes, you must be at least 18 years old to participate in the summer course. You must also have a basic knowledge of the German language, at least level A1 (70 hours of language classes).
Am I automatically insured if I get sick during the summer course?
No. Please take out international health insurance in your home country for the duration of the summer course and bring your insurance certificate with you. We will then help you find a doctor.
When is the best time to arrive and depart?
You should arrive at the Check-In in Tübingen on Monday, August 4 between 10:00 and 16:00.
You will need to check-out and leave your room on Friday, August 29.
You can sleep in your room until Friday. August 29, which is our check-out day.
The check-out takes place between 8:00 and 12:00.
Please plan accordingly.
If you want to arrive earlier or leave later, you can book a room at the youth hostel in Tübingen.
How do I get to my dorm?
We will drive you and your baggage to your room on the day of arrival and help you with checking-in.
What do I do if I arrive after 4:00pm on the day of arrival?
If you arrive later than 4:00 pm on the day of arrival, please let us know in advance and write us an e-mail. We can then find a personal solution.
What is the most important information about my room in the student dormitory?
We provide basic, simple single student rooms, meals excluded. Bathrooms and kitchens are usually shared by several people. Shared apartments are often mixed (not separated by gender).
There are several student dormitories in Tübingen. We aren't able to tell you exactly which dorm you will be living in before the course starts. You will receive all the details upon your arrival. Many of the summer course rooms are located in the district "Waldhäuser Ost".
Is it possible to cook in the dormitory?
Yes. There is a kitchen on each floor, which is shared by the residents of the floor. The kitchens are equipped with stove, oven, refrigerator, sink, etc. There are also pots, dishes, etc.
Are there washing facilities in the rooms?
Almost all rooms have their own sink. Bathrooms are usually located on the floor and are used by men and women.
How far is it from the student dormitory to the university?
Tübingen is not a very big city. The student dormitories can be reached by foot or by bus. The bus system in Tübingen is reliable and safe, busses leave every 5-10 minutes. There are even night buses. The monthly ticket for the city bus is included in the room rent.
Do I have internet access?
Yes. All participants have internet access via EDUROAM or can log into the University's open Wifi. You can use the internet for free. However, not all dormitories offer wireless internet access, therefore we recommend to bring your Laptop and a LAN cable.
What do I need to bring?
You need to bring covers for the bedding. You need three pieces: a cover for the pillow, a cover for the comforter and a sheet for the mattress (about 90x200cm). You should also bring your own towels.
