The international summer course at the University of Tübingen combines four weeks of intensive, communicative German lessons at the language levels A2-C1 with a varied leisure program. We invite you to spend a very special summer at the University of Tübingen:

  • Make friends with participants from all over the world
  • Be inspired by many intercultural encounters!

The program is suitable for students of all subjects and for anyone with an interest in German language and culture.

Registration and cancellation

Registration deadline: June 30, 2022 or when the maximum number of participants is reached. Early registration is recommended.

Please note: If you cancel your registration after June 30, 2022, we will retain a processing fee of 100,- Euro. In case of cancellation after July 8, 2022, we will retain an additional processing fee of 300,- € for the room reservation.

Credits

You can get a maximum of 5 ECTS points in the International Summer Course. Please ask your home university before the start of the course whether these points will be recognized.

Prerequisite for the maximum number of credits: regular active participation in class (with final test). In addition, participation in tutorials and collaboration in a group project.

 

Staying in Tübingen

Upon request, we can arrange for a single room in a student dormitory with shared bathrooms and kitchens: 420,- to 450,- Euro. The price includes help with moving in and a monthly ticket for the city bus in Tübingen.

In case of cancellation after July 8, 2022, we will retain a processing fee of 300,- € for the room reservation.

Covid / Hygiene and sanitation regulations

The realization of the summer course is dependent on future Covid19 developments. We hope to be able to realize the course in presence and of course in consideration of the respectively valid Corona regulations and protection measures.

Until further notice, all participants must be able to present a valid proof of vaccination (vaccinated or cured).

Please note: It is the participants' responsibility to inform themselves about current regulations.

Course fee and payment

- 660,- Euro for classes and tutorials, teaching materials, two excursions to the surrounding countryside and cities, for most of the social events and internet access.

- 420,- to 450,- Euro, for a single room in the student dormitory, if you book the room through us.

You can pay by bank transfer or by credit card. You will receive the payment information after registration.

Please note: If you cancel your registration after June 30, 2022, we will keep an administration fee of 100,- Euro. In case of cancellation after July 8, 2022, we will retain an additional processing fee of 300,- € for the room reservation.

Additionally you should plan for about 350,- Euro for your meals.

FAQs

Can I get a scholarship?
The Summer Course does not award its own scholarships. You can apply for a university summer course scholarship with the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Ausland Dienst) and indicate Tübingen as your desired location. Application deadline: Apply by December 1 to participate in the summer course of the following year.

Are there any participation requirements?
Yes, you must be at least 18 years old to participate in the summer course. You must also have a basic knowledge of the German language, at least level A1 (70 hours of language classes).


How do I get to my dorm?
We will drive you and your baggage to your room on the day of arrival and help you with checking-in.


How far is it from the student dormitory to the university?
Tübingen is not a very big city. The student dormitories can be reached on foot or by bus. The bus system in Tübingen is reliable and safe, buses leave every 5-10 minutes. There are even night buses. The monthly ticket for the city bus is included in the room rent.


What do I do if I arrive after 5:00pm on the day of arrival?
If you arrive later than 5:00 pm on the day of arrival, please let us know in advance and write us an e-mail. Then we can find a personal solution.


Do I have internet access?
Yes. All participants have internet access via EDUROAM. Or: You will get an account for the network of the university. You can use the internet for free. Not all dormitories offer wireless internet access, therefore we recommend to bring a LAN cable.


Am I automatically insured if I get sick during the summer course?
No. Please take out international health insurance in your home country for the duration of the summer course and bring your insurance certificate with you. We will then help you find a doctor.

 

Is it possible to cook in the dormitory?
Yes. There is a kitchen on each floor, which is shared by the residents of the floor. The kitchens are equipped with stove, oven, refrigerator, sink, etc. There are also pots, dishes, etc.


Are there washing facilities in the rooms?
Almost all rooms have a sink. Bathrooms are usually located on the floor.


What does "bring your own bedding" mean?
You need three pieces: Pillow, a cover for the blanket and a sheet. For 10 euros you can buy it from us.
