Researchers from the University of Tübingen and the U.S.-American University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have released a position paper emphasizing the importance of democratic AI governance.
The scholars see the combination of U.S. innovation strengths and EU human rights protections as a key to responding to the urgent challenges in designing artificial intelligence for the benefit of society. Based on human rights and social justice, their work proposes research goals for the areas of democracy, labor, and the environment.
