New Dataset AMATUS – How is math anxiety related to performance and attitude?

Hector Research Institute member Christina Artemenko publishes the dataset AMATUS.

How is mathematic anxiety linked to other emotional and attitude constructs? That’s a question without a clear answer. To find out more about the topic, researchers collected data from 848 university students and 258 primary school teachers who live in Germany or Belgium. Their dataset is now available online. The open-access AMATUS dataset explores the complex relationship between mathematics anxiety, arithmetic performance, and attitudes toward mathematics in both primary school teachers and university students.

The dataset includes:

  • Measures of mathematics anxiety and arithmetic performance;
  • Different types of anxiety;
  • Attitudes toward mathematics.

This open-access dataset offers valuable insights for researchers in psychology and maths education, educators, and education policymakers as it lets you  explore hypotheses about the emotional and motivational aspects of maths in adults.
