The Hector Research Institute of Education Sciences and Psychology is seeking support for the teaching project “Mehr innovative Lehre wagen!” as well as the AI teaching project “Operationalising Critical AI Literacy: A Gamified and “Student as Partners” Teaching Toolkit for Responsible Generative AI Use in Social Science”. The project focuses on innovative teaching practices and involves the qualitative analysis of interview texts and diary entries to investigate "Epistemic Agency" in the context of AI-supported learning. To collect and analyze the data for this project, the research institute is hiring.
A Student Assistant
in the scope of approximately 8 hours/month.
The position is to be filled for the period from September 1st, 2026 to December 31st, 2026, with possible extension until March 31st, 2027, subject to funding availability.
Typical activities:
• Evaluation & Refinement: Supporting the interim evaluation of results and helping refine disciplinary AI prompts based on student feedback
• Qualitative Analysis: Assisting with the processing and coding of qualitative post-course semi-structured interviews.
• Synthesis & Dissemination: Supporting the synthesis of results and helping prepare the final report and academic dissemination materials.
Your profile:
• Enrolled Student: Currently enrolled in a master’s program in Education Sciences, Psychology, or a related field.
• Interest: An interest in qualitative research methods, text analysis, and the intersection of education and AI.
• Methodological Skills: Initial experience or interest in processing semi-structured interviews and qualitative data synthesis, specifically thematic analysis.
• Language Proficiency: Proficient in written and spoken skills in both German and English (essential for data
• Soft Skills: A structured, independent, and reliable approach to work, with a passion for collaborative work in an interdisciplinary environment.
