SAS 2018 Workshop

Our RTG member Dilectiss Liu (Philosophy) participated in the SAS 2018 workshop (November 28-30, 2018).

Our RTG member Dilectiss Liu (Philosophy) participated in the SAS 2018 workshop at the High Performance Computing Centre, University of Stuttgart, between the 28th and 30th of November, 2018. He presented his paper on the worry about epistemic opacity in machine learning, arguing that epistemic opacity does not undermine justification in machine learning. He has met with philosophers and computer scientists who work in statistical learning. In particular, he has established a connection with Julian Newman (London) and Henri Salha (Paris).
