The Institute of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapy and Clinical Pharmacy (Chair: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dr. Miriam M. Cortese-Krott), at the University of Tübingen invites applications, within the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Centre CRC 1774 “CARDDIAB – Cardio-Diabetes-Crosstalk”, for the position of a

PhD Student
(m/f/d; TV-L 13, 65%)

fixed-term for 2 years initially, with the possibility of extension.

CRC 1774 CARDDIAB (host institution: Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf; with participation of the University of Tübingen, LMU Munich and Helmholtz Munich, among others) investigates the reciprocal relationship between diabetes and cardiovascular disease. You will work on an independent sub-project in the field of pathophysiology/signal transduction, in close collaboration with partner laboratories in the CRC network, including cooperation opportunities with Helmholtz Munich and Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf.

Suitable candidates will have a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (preferred), ideally with a pharmacist license (Approbation) as an advantage; alternatively a Master's in Biochemistry, Biology or a related field. Applicants should be highly motivated, enjoy interdisciplinary collaboration and be able to integrate well into our international team. You can look forward to a challenging PhD project, for which the following profile qualifies you:

  • Willingness to work with laboratory animals, as this is required for the experimental work – prior experience is not necessary but would be an advantage
  • Strong interest in the pathophysiology of cardiovascular disease and scientific research
  • Excellent English language skills (at least level B2)
