Anti-discrimination

General principles for reducing discrimination and structural barriers at the University of Tübingen

The University of Tübingen aims to be a fair and safe place for all people, free from discrimination and violence. The well-being and full participation of University members and staff is the top priority in all areas of operation, including studies, teaching, research, and administration.

We are committed to removing barriers and mechanisms that may disadvantage you in your activities at the University and to taking preventive measures to counteract them.

The general principles of the anti-discrimination guidelines are:

Prohibition of discrimination

No person may be discriminated against on the basis of race or anti-Semitism, nor on the basis of actual or attributed group-specific characteristics such as sex, gender identity, sexual identity/orientation, ethnic origin, nationality, socioeconomic status, age, mental or physical disability, illness, religion, or world view.

Respectful interaction

This policy requires all University members and affiliates, as well as guests on campus, to treat each other with respect, esteem, equality, and mutual responsibility.

Addressing and eliminating discrimination

Our goal is to establish a culture and practice of anti-discrimination and diversity. This includes recognizing and eliminating both individual and structural discrimination. Those affected should be supported and encouraged to defend themselves in cases of discrimination, harassment, violence, stalking, bullying, or abuse of power, to seek advice and to file their complaint, and to make use of the services available for review and redress.
