About the University Network

The Higher Education Network Baden-Württemberg on Education for Sustainable Development (BNE-Hochschulnetzwerk BW) is a cross-university cooperation platform, designed to strengthen the structural and long-term integration of ESD within the state’s higher education landscape. The exchange of ESD-experts revolves around current research, innovative teaching methods and regional transfer projects, therefore facilitating the connection between universities to exchange more efficiently and create synergies in the implementation of ESD concepts. The Higher Education Network creates a threefold effect: At the university level it opens up a public forum for its members to share their research. Through reform processes and transdisciplinary sustainability research and teaching, universities directly engage with society. Finally, the network serves as a model for other federal states seeking to establich and expand ESD in higher education. The Higher Education Network for ESD in Baden-Württemberg has been existing since 2012.
