Oregon / Baden-Württemberg State Exchange Program Faculty Mobility Grant

Purpose

The US state of Oregon and the German state of Baden-Württemberg have maintained a reciprocal exchange agreement since 1968, facilitating the international mobility of more than two thousand students for academic exchange. The vast majority of participants are undergraduate students, but the agreement also allows for the academic exchange of graduate students and the collaboration of faculty.
In order to strengthen the relationships between the partner academic institutions in both states, to broaden the program capacity in serving the academic needs of enrolled students, and to engage a larger number of faculty members, funds are available to facilitate networking and project collaboration between academic faculty of both states.
Grants will be awarded to Baden-Württemberg academic faculty members with a position relevant to the goals of the exchange program in order to facilitate a visit to one or more partner institutions in the partner state. Faculty should identify a particular university connection, project, or opportunity to explore during their visit.

Candidate Criteria

  • Academics working at one of the participating universities in Baden-Württemberg.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are committed to higher education in Baden-Württemberg and are able to promote the purpose and goals of the Oregon/Baden-Württemberg Exchange Program in their department or institution.
  • Graduate teaching assistantships and similar student positions, thesis research trips for bachelor's and master's students, and doctoral candidates are not eligible.

Two funding tracks are available:

  1. Projects that strengthen and expand bilateral student mobility and/or programming.
  2. Research collaboration that includes a primary goal of developing student engagement in a sustainable fashion.

  • Round-trip airfare between Baden-Württemberg and Oregon in the maximum amount of 1,350 EUR.
