Purpose:

The State of Oregon, USA and the State of Baden-Württemberg, Germany established a higher education partnership in 1968. A primary aspect of this partnership has been the student exchange program, which has helped more than two thousand students engage in international mobility and academic exchange over more than 55 years. 

The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and Arts’ Faculty Mobility Grant program is intended to help seed research collaborations between faculty in participating Oregon and Baden-Württemberg universities, strengthen relationships and expand partnership activity. The award covers travel costs for a visit of up to one week to a partner institution. Travel must take place during the 2026 calendar year.

Candidate Criteria:

• Academic faculty working at one of our partner universities in Baden-Württemberg or Oregon.
• Candidates who are committed to higher education in Baden-Württemberg and are able to promote the purpose and goals of the Oregon/Baden-Württemberg Exchange Program in their department or institution. Candidates should express interest in supporting and promoting student participation in the exchange program.
• Graduate teaching assistantships and similar student positions, thesis research trips for bachelor's and master's students, and doctoral candidates are not eligible.

Covered Travel Expenses:

• Cost of roundtrip airfare between Baden-Württemberg and Oregon, up to 1,350 EUR (roughly $1,500 USD, subject to exchange rate)
• A daily stipend of 150 EUR (roughly $175 USD, subject to exchange rate) for up to 7 days. Arrival and departure each count as a half day.
• The approved trip must take place in coordination with the Oregon Study Center Germany by December 31, 2026.
