The program “Sport, Exercise, and Mental Health in Special Populations,” part of the European university alliance CIVIS, is being implemented in cooperation with universities in Athens, Brussels, Madrid, Lausanne, and Tübingen. Following the one-week in-person component at the University of Tübingen, a virtual component will now continue through June 2026. The participating students come from eight countries represented by the European partner universities of the CIVIS Alliance in Madrid, Athens, Brussels, Rome, Bucharest, Salzburg, Stockholm, and Lausanne. In addition, students and faculty from the African partner universities in Casablanca (Morocco) and Sfax (Tunisia) are involved. Based on a diverse program, students from the fields of sports and exercise science, physical therapy, psychology, and medicine benefited from an intensive interdisciplinary and transnational exchange on the topic of the role of sport and exercise for mental health. For the University of Tübingen, the Department ‘Educational and Health Research in Sports’ of the Institute of Sports Science (Prof. Dr. Gorden Sudeck) is coordinating this year’s edition of the program.
The program is supported by co-funding from ERASMUS+ and is based at the CIVIS Health Hub.
