Workshop „Ambiguity and Narratology – Interdisciplinary and Diachronic Perspectives”

From 22 to 24 April 2021, the interdisciplinary and diachronic workshop “Ambiguity and Narratology” took place. The main purpose of the workshop was to re-define the relationship between ambiguity and narrative texts. To achieve this, narratologists of different disciplines (Latin, Greek, German, English literature) were invited. Additionally, interdisciplinary talks (semiotics, linguistics, digital humanities) gave new methodological insights into rather seldom, but important aspects of narratology. Two of our doctoral students gave a talk: Simon Grund (“Introduction”) and Dominik Wabersich (“Time and ambiguity in Goethe’s Wilhelm Meisters Wanderjahre oder die Entsagten”). Furthermore, there were the following speakers: Jonas Kellermann (Konstanz), Edoardo Galfre (Erlangen/Nürnberg), Christopher Wrenn (Manoa, HI), Irene de Jong (Amsterdam), Jacob Langeloh (Freiburg), Gerjanne van den Berg (St. Andrews), Burkhard Emme (Berlin), Luisa Gödeke (Göttingen), Caroline Kroon (Amsterdam), Saskia Schomber (Giessen), Avichai Kapach (Providence) and Leonie von Alvensleben (Göttingen). The workshop was organised by the RTG Ambiguity (Simon Grund & Robert Kirstein) and the Seminar for Latin & Greek Philology (Julian Wagner).
