Workshop: Guidelines to Safeguard Good Scientific Practice at the RTG

On May 8, 2018, a workshop on Guidelines to Safeguard Good Scientific Practice was once again offered under the lead of Dr. Sebastian Ostritsch, which the members and associates of the RTG 1808 visited in great numbers. Dr. Ostritsch from the Department of Philosophy of the University of Stuttgart and the International Centre of Ethics in Research (IZEW) of the University of Tübingen offered valuable insights into the theoretical fundamentals of ethics in research in explaining the ambiguities of the normative word “should”. Following this, Dr. Ostritsch discussed normative questions and problems that have arisen from the individual dissertational projects of the participants in the past or that – from today’s perspective – might become relevant in the future. The workshop ended with talking about the participants’ individual questions concerning their subjective behaviour in an academic setting.
