Here is what was new from Global Awareness Educaiton in WS 21-22
The first seminar in the Joint Projects format will look at BRICS
Would you like to learn more about the emergence of a newly structured economic association among Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - the BRICS countries? Waht do you know about China's strategic position within this alliance? The seminar "Global Power of BRICS Countries: China and New Global Cooperation Networks" in WiSe 21-22 will cover this topic in depth. With guest lectures from each of the five BRICS countries, you will gain first-hand knowledge and learn more about the challenges of international relations. In addition, this will provide an alternative perspective to the G7.
This online smeinar in English will be offered simultaneously at the State University of Maringá. Students will thus have the opportunity to learn in an international environment. The seminar is offered in partnership with the China Centrum Tübingen. Registration for this seminar is via ALMA. The credit points earned in these seminars will be counted toward elective (d) Joint Projects from the Global Awareness Certificate.
The partnership with the Doctoral Certificate Program in "Global South Studies" will start in the WS 21-22
In the WS 21-22, we will begin our partnership with two seminars focusing on the Global South:

A partnership with the Diversity-Oriented Writing Center will be initiated in the WS 21-22
Academic life is becoming increasingly international. During your studies, you will experience a variety of different internationalized and interdisciplinary communities. Therefore, in partnership with the Diversity-Oriented Writing Center, we developed the workshop "Academic Writing in Global Contexts", which explores and applies academic writing as the primary means of communication in these diverse discourse communities.
Registration for this workshop is via ALMA. The credit points earned in this workshop will count toward elective (b) Intercultural and Transcultural Fields of Action from the Global Awareness Certificate.
In the WS 21-22, a partnership with the University Archives will begin with a Student Research Project
In a seminar focusing on the occupation of the basement of the Tübingen University Archives in September 1981 by eighteen Sinti, we will reconstrcut and discuss the connections between the local event, its national significance, and the transnational articularion of interests of the Sinti and Roma. From this dialogue, we will learn more about minority advocacy and tis global representation and articulation to implement their concerns in a transnational setting. The seminar will include a visit to the University Archives.
