New Jobticket for University employees

University hopes the new public transport pass will reduce traffic in Tübingen

The state of Baden-Württemberg is introducing the "JobTicket BW" – a subsidized public transport pass – for all its employees from January 1, 2016. That includes people employed by the University of Tübingen.

State employees who buy a pass for travel between home and work for the whole year will get a subsidy of 20 euros per month. Here in Tübingen, the NALDO transport network provides a further reduction in the price, making an annual public transport pass up to 50% cheaper than the regular price.

The University, as Tubingen's biggest employer, believes that many more people will take advantage of this deal. "I hope that this attractive offer will prompt many commuters to switch from their cars to public transport," says Executive Vice-President Dr. Andreas Rothfuss. "The number of people we employ has risen by more than 900 in recent years." The new incentive to take the bus has the potential to ease the parking situation and help protect the environment.

And like any annual pass, the JobTicket BW can be used on your days off. Part-time employees and trainees also qualify for the pass, which runs for a year from the month in which it's purchased.
