Neuroscience for Students Beyond Tübingen

At the University of Tübingen’s Neuroscience Student Lab, 22 students from the Hector Seminar Heidelberg gained insights into current research on learning and memory.

The figure shows the gaze positions of four participants during a ten-second viewing period of photographs. It illustrates that attention is focused primarily on the eye region and that corresponding areas in male and female faces are compared.

From 22 to 24 April 2026, 22 students from the Hector Seminar Heidelberg visited the Neuroscience Student Lab at the University of Tübingen. The three-day program began with a film evening at the youth hostel, featuring the autobiographical film about Eric Kandel, “In Search of Memory”. During the subsequent discussion, Uwe Ilg answered the students’ questions.

On the second day, the participants conducted neurobiological experiments in small groups under the guidance of lab assistants. On the final day, the students presented the results of their experiments and discussed their relevance to biology lessons at school. The program concluded with a lecture by Marie Luise Schreiter from the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics entitled “Learning from the Perspective of a Neuroscientist”.
