Public engagement – Dialogue between research and society

The University of Tübingen is intensifying its dialogue with society. We focus on formats for participation, experience, discussion and integrated research. Creating dialogue, fostering exchange between science and society, and incorporating practical expertise from people’s everyday lives into research – these are goals of our public engagement.

In our exchanges with society, we are guided by the Principles of Public Engagement developed in part here in Tübingen. This guideline helps shape dialogue between academia and society in ways that benefit everyone involved. Here you can learn more about the values and principles that guide our work.

Engaging more fully with society is one of the key goals of the University of Tübingen’s Excellence Strategy. An important instrument in achieving this goal is the Public-Engagement-Hub. This agile team of experts anchors public engagement as an integral part of the University’s profile by bringing together strategy and practice. In doing so, the Public-Engagement-Hub actively contributes to realizing the vision of an open and socially engaged university.
