New E-Learning Module on the value of Practical Experience During Studies
A new e-learning module supports students in reflecting on practical experience gained during their studies, exploring career perspectives, and planning their next steps in personal and professional development.
With the new e-learning module “Practical Experience During Studies”, students now have access to a digital learning resource that supports reflection on practical activities, individual competencies, and career perspectives. The module was developed by the TRACS units Career Service and Civic Engagement in cooperation with the Center for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.
The module focuses on reflecting on practical experiences such as internships, working student positions, or civic engagement activities. Such experiences are considered an important key to personal and professional development, as they enable the application of theoretical knowledge in practice, provide insights into different professional fields, and foster the development of transferable skills.
The online module offers impulses for analysing previous practical experiences, identifying individual strengths and development potential, and clarifying personal values and career goals. In addition, it provides practical guidance on topics such as writing applications, networking, and entering practical fields of work. The aim is to make the added value of practical experience visible and to support its integration into further academic and career planning.
Another focus of the module is on the classification of practical activities during studies. In addition to compulsory internships included in some degree programmes, voluntary internships, working student positions, and civic engagement activities can often be credited as part of the curriculum. Information on these options is also included in the module.
The e-learning module is available in German and English. The English version was developed as part of the “Come to Stay” project and is specifically tailored to the needs of international students.
The module is now available via the University of Tübingen’s ILIAS platform:
