MY TÜBINGIEN EXPERIENCE
by NANCY JANE

My journey to Tübingien, Germany started with a whirlwind of emotions. To Me it was like a manifestation of a dream that has long been forsaken. Amazingly great as it is, Tübingien remains a place worth writing home about! From my first day to the very last one, I can boldly attest to the beauty and calmness of this town. Having to jot all this down evokes certain emotions from deep within. For the past three weeks of my stay here, I write with no regrets as I offer a deeper sense of appreciation.

It all started with a very warm welcome BY Barbara Owen and the team. It was a completely different atmosphere. I felt like I was never gonna survive the entire three weeks, little did I know so much awaited me. The cold was beyond what I had literally imagined. I had so much thoughts cascading in my mind, a roller coaster of emotions, nonetheless I could feel a greater sense of love in the atmosphere. I couldn’t stop wondering how my first night in Europe will be like. Curiosity took its toll on me until I was handed over to a very open and loving soul Heike Zillgener! She has been a really amazing mother. She would spare her own time just to prepare us dinner and we wouldn’t have to spend on food.

So much remains unfolded, my experience at Daimler among other things! Imagine having to witness the stages involved in the manufacturing of a Mercedes Benz! From the very first to the last one! This was a whole lot more than I imagined. The thought of leaving Tübingien rips my heart apart considering the fact that I believe there is still more that I can actually experience here. The bus system, all based on trust! So organised. Tübingien is like a dream come true, a small but fascinating town!

A lot more I could write with regard to my lectures. My German classes with the most amazing teacher! This made my stay in Germany even more easier, all though I pretty much am not perfect in speaking German, at least I can say basic things in German. All thanks to my teacher Tina. Not only the German classes, I had other most interesting and amazing lectures. An exposure to the German history, this literally left me still wondering and probably still very much lost in a pool of unbelieve and denial. The road to Europe lectures with the most amazing lecturer! That is to mention but a few!
I am not a movie fanatic, but having to watch the German movies and films with Tina exposed me to a  really great atmosphere that aided in somehow making my stay in Tübingien a really great one that in one way or the other changed my perception towards moviegoing considering even the fact that Tübingien is a very safe place one wouldn’t mind going out for a movie. The town has proved to offer a whole lot of opportunities for young people. I still can’t help it but shed tears at the thought of leaving Tübingien.

I can hardly forget the Fasnacht  experience at Rangendingen with Elisabeth Diesner! Such an amazing parade! Imagine having chase the winter away just to welcome a new season! This was the most beautiful scene ever! There is a lot that I can jot down with regard to my experience in this town. In a nutshell, I have had so much fun! There was never a lonely day! There was never a wasted day! By far one thing that I can write a billion pages on is actually having to witness the snow for the first time in my life! Having to walk on a snowy day gave me peace of mind! With the atmosphere calm and peaceful. I literally got lost in my own world and felt like I was sitting right next to the creator!

Tübingien has been really a nice town, I enjoyed every single moment of my stay here. The Kuckuck South African party and most of all the Black sheep moments! I am really gonna miss this town. I hate to say goodbye as much as I hate the thought of flying back on Tuesday! My experience is an unforgettable one! I will frame all of the precious memories with love in the hallways of my heart!
