Departure and Transcript

You need to terminate your enrollment, i.e.to end your student membership at Tübingen University:

Digital Application for Termination of Enrollment

• Fill out the digital application for Termination of Enrollment before you leave the university
• Guide for the Termination of Enrollment form 
• special data fields:
  • Reason for exmatriculation: change of university
  • Exmatriculation at the official end of your last semester at the university
    for the winter semester: March 31
    for the summer semester: September 30
  • Postal address in your home country!

It is not possible to study at another German university without the certificate of exmatriculation!

You may keep your student ID card.

Within 1 week before you depart and at the latest 2 weeks after having moved out you have to unregister with the city you live in. In Tübingen, you deregister at the local Bürgeramt: You can book an appointment to unregister in person at the Bürgeramt Tübingen (Online Terminvereinbarung > Abmeldung ins Ausland) or you can deregister directly online. Unfortunately, they do not have an English website and all information and forms are available in German only. To unregister online, you first must register in the service portal. After you are registered and logged in, search for "Wohnsitz abmelden" and enter the postal code of your address in Tübingen under "Ort".

Some groups of exchange students must deregister in person with the Incoming Team: This check-out is important if your home university requires a form with the exact departure date, e.g. for the scholarship calculation. Usually the following applies:

• Erasmus or CIVIS students must deregister in person
  • the Erasmus form (Certificate of Departure / Attendance etc.) is issued by your home university, not by us!
  • we sign such certificates at the check-out
     
• Exchange students from overseas do not usually have to deregister in person
  • as their home university does not require a departure form
  • if a confirmation of deregistration is required in individual cases, please book an appointment for the check-out

Please note: We can confirm any departure only 5 days in advance. For example if you leave Tübingen on February 27, we can sign your departure form indicating February 27 as departure date at the earliest on February 22, but not on February 21. And please check if your home university demands the departure form to be signed even less than 5 days in advance

You can book an appointment for the check-out at our portal. If you do not deregister personally, no certificate can be issued.

If you have opened a bank account and taken out health insurance in Germany for your exchange stay, please do not forget to cancel both. Inform the bank or health insurance company that you are going back abroad.

If you would have received your transcript directly in the ALMA database, but no longer have access to ALMA, please follow these steps:

1. Fill out the form for a directly transferred final transcript.
2. Sign the form (typing your name is not sufficient because your Tübingen student email address is no longer activated from which you could send it).
3. Send the form by e-mail to the Central Examination Office at exchange-examsspam prevention@uni-tuebingen.de.

If you are not sure whether the transcript is complete, please add this information in your e-mail to the Central Examination Office. In this case, the Central Examination Office will send you a copy of the transcript for review before it is sent to your home university.

Your e-mail to the Central Examination Office must include the following:

• Your full name
• Enrollment number
• Your semester of residence
• If necessary: information that you first have to check the transcript for completeness

Please note: Only the students themselves, not the home university, can apply for such a transcript.
