Buddy Program for Exchange Students

A new city, new language, new system – being an exchange student can feel overwhelming at first. To make things easier, our Buddy Program pairs you with a Tübingen student who’ll help you get settled, show you around, and adjust to life here. Whether it’s tips about the university, navigating the city, or finding fun things to do – your buddy will support you.

What is a buddy partnership?

The Tübingen Buddy will support you during your first time in Tübingen and beyond. Tasks include, for example:

  • Welcome on the day of arrival, if possible
  • Help with check-in at the dormitory
  • Support with administrative steps
  • Joint leisure activities etc.

How do I register for the buddy program as exchange student?

After your admission as an exchange student, you will receive an e-mail from us regarding the Buddy Program with detailed information on how to register.

StudIT

Looking to connect in Tübingen as a new exchange student? StudIT (Student Initiative International Tübingen) is run by local students who regularly organize fun events and trips for you: Perfect for meeting other internationals, getting to know German culture, and discovering the city and surrounding region together. It’s also a great way to make local friends and start building your community here.

What does StudIT offer?

StudIT's services are diverse, including the following:

  • Regular activities for international students: its Intro-Week at the beginning of the semester, trips to the surrounding area (e.g. to Ludwigsburg, Ulm, Hohenzollern Castle), hikes, punting, etc.
  • Regular MeetUps in Tübingen and the surrounding area with German and international students
  • Peer-to-peer counseling via e-mail in case of problems

Sunday, November 2                       Trip to LudwigsburgVisit to Ludwigsburg Residential Palace and the world's largest pumpkin exhibition in the palace gardens.
Sunday, November 16Trip to Bad UrachHike to the waterfall in Bad Urach followed by a visit to the thermal baths/hot springs.
Saturday, November 29                            Trip to UlmA guided city tour in Ulm followed by a visit to the local Christmas market.
Sunday, December 7Trip to the Hohenzollern CastleVisit to the Hohenzollern Castle with its Christmas decorations (Royal Winter Magic).
