Hector AI + Education Future Fund brought to regional attention

Press review: University of Tübingen receives €6.2 million in funding

by Philipp Sigle

The H. W. & J. Hector Foundation is providing the University of Tübingen with €6.2 million to establish the Hector AI + Education Future Fund. This support will enable six research projects to be launched in the coming years to investigate and further develop the use of artificial intelligence in education. The projects are embedded in the LEAD Research Network & Graduate School. The program was initiated by Ulrich Trautwein, director of the Hector Institute for Empirical Educational Research, among others. Several regional media outlets, including the Reutlinger General-Anzeiger and the radio station Radiosender Neckaralb Live  have picked up on the information about the funding decision and offer additional perspectives.

The projects range from applications for promoting reading in kindergarten to digital learning assistants for mathematics lessons and virtual learning environments. The aim is to develop evidence-based, practical solutions that support teachers and learners alike. Particular attention is paid to ethical issues and the protection of sensitive data.
