Kleiner/Kölle groups: Superconducting & magnetic layer structures

The experimental research groups of Reinhold Kleiner and Dieter Kölle concentrate on superconducting and magnetic layer systems. The current core area of research are (1) the control of quantum phenomena in superconducting devices and in solid state / quantum gas hybrid systems, (2) the development of NanoSQUIDs for the detection of nano-scale magnetic systems, (3) understanding and control of interface properties of heteroepitaxial oxide thin films, (4) electric transport and magnetic properties of ferromagnetic and superconductor / ferromagnet hybrid systems for applications in spintronics, and (5) Josephson devices for THz electronics. Close collaboration in research and teaching exists with the teams of Fortágh (nano atomoptics), KernFleischer (nano structuring), Chassé(magnetic thin films), Meixner/Zhang (laser microscopy / spectroscopy) and Jochum (superconducting quantum interferometers, RBS analysis).
