The teaching and research profile of the University of Tübingen covers all major academic disciplines of life sciences, humanities and social sciences, law, theology, medicine, mathematics and natural sciences. Founded in 1477, the University of Tübingen can look back on over 500 years of tradition, which has made it a German university of excellence and a top international university.
The University of Tübingen is clearly committed to the common European values of freedom of science and research, freedom of opinion and speech, equality of all people and respect for human dignity, regardless of origin, religion, social status, gender or sexual orientation. The University of Tübingen is actively committed to the positive development of society and peaceful coexistence, to the sustainable development of the economy and the protection of the environment.
For an outstanding university, the international exchange of researchers is a central element. The excellence strategy with the future concept "Research Relevance - Responsibility" offers funds for the promotion of international researchers at all academic levels. Since institutional research collaborations with selected partners can only grow on the basis of individual collaborations between researchers, funding formats have been developed to provide targeted support for these collaborations. To date, these funding opportunities have been very successful and have generated a great interest among doctoral and post-doctoral students and led to the appointment of several top-class international scientists as International Distinguished Guest Professors.
