Summary

Senescence is the last step in plant development and is driven by one of the most complex regulatory networks existing in plants. We could already define the hub position of the transcription factor WRKY53 and we aim now to understand the molecular mechanisms driving the network in more detail by focusing on a small subnetwork between WRKY53 and its two regulators WRKY25 and WRKY18. Here, we will determine specificities and kinetics driving the subnetwork interactions to start computational modelling. Moreover, the redox sensitivity of the network and its impact on senescence will be elucidated.
