Summary:

Some RPW8/HR proteins are involved in the immune response, but they vary considerably in structure and sequence and it is unclear whether they nevertheless act in the same way. To this end, the allelic diversity of the RPW8/HR family in Arabidopsis thaliana will be investigated, and major variants tested for their abilities to alter cellular, molecular, and organismal phenotypes. These observations will be linked to diversity in protein structure and arrangement in membranes, as well as different networks of signaling components and interactors through which RPW8/HR proteins exert their effects.
