This online seminar is a joint project with the Federal University of ABC (Brazil), in which students from both universities can participate. Registration of this course is done via ALMA. Credit points earned in this seminar may be counted toward elective (d) Joint Projects from the Global Awareness Certificate.

Pilot project of a virtual world trip in the format of a serious game will be offered in SoSe 22

In cooperation with the Master Profile Digital Humanities and the Center for Teaching and Learning we have developed a virtual world trip in the format of a serious game to convey and discuss the basics of the globalization debate. The seminar "What is globalization?" is the pilot project offered in SoSe-22 on two dates each: Tuesdays 4-6pm and Wednesdays 4-6pm. This seminar will count toward the required portion of the Global Awareness Certificate

Seminars in partnership with the Doctoral Certificate Program in "Global South Studies" in SoSe 22

Five seminars focusing on the Global South from the Doctoral Certificate Program in "Global South Studies" will be offered this SoSe 22:

Registration for these seminars is via ALMA. Credit points earned in these semniars will count toward elective (a) Thematic Courses of the Global Awareness Certificate.

Courses in different languages

In SoSe 22, courses will be offered not only in English, but also in German and Spanish. This includes the following two courses:

  • "Kulturell vielfältige Grundlagen der Musik" with Marian Trescher (University of Tübingen)
  • "La etnografía multimodal como herramienta de investigación colaborativa" with Dr. Damián Omar Martinez (University of Tübingen) and Eduardo Bernal Bravo (University of Tübingen)

Registration for these seminars is done via ALMA. The credit points earned in these courses will be counted towards elective (a) Thematic Courses of the Global Awareness Certificate.

The workshop "Academic Writing in Global Contexts" will be offered again in SoSe 22

The experience in WS 21-22 reinforced the interest of many students for the workshop in partnership with the Diversity-Oriented Writing Center. Therefore, it will be offered again this SoSe 22. Registration is available via ALMA. Credit points earned in this workshop may count toward elective (b) Inter- and Transcultural Fields of Action of the Global Awareness Certificate

Student Research Projects in SoSe 22

The seminars in the format of Student Research Projects will explore three topics this SoSe 22:

  • "The Roma Holocaust in the Roma Transnational Civil Rights Movement"
  • "Global markets in the creative industries: The Global Music Market"
  • "Trade Fairs as Global Marketplaces"

These courses are offered by Glaucia Peres da Silva. Registration for these seminars is via ALMA.The credit points earned in these seminars will count toward elective (c) Student Research Projects of the Global Awareness Certificate.

Podcast "Living the dream of touring"

The students of the seminar "Working as musicians in the world - snap-shots" produced the podcast "Living the dream of touring" under the direction of Glaucia Peres da Silva in SoSe 21. They dealt extensively with the careers of international musicians from different countries, discussed various strategies musicians use to build their careers. They also identified biographical milestones that particularly shaped musicians' global mobility. Building on this, the focus of the podcast was on the importance of touring for musicians. Using a guideline developed in the course, students interviewed internationally active musicians from various countries. The production of the podcast was supported by the Center for Media Competence.
